Safety Tips for Game Set Mahj
Effective date: May 11, 2026
Game Set Mahj is a coordination platform. We don't verify users or supervise in-person gatherings. Meet at your own risk and trust your instincts.
For everyone — before you meet
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off in messages or profiles, don't go.
- Verify who you're meeting. Confirm names, contact info, and addresses.
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Consider meeting in a public place for the first time (a community center, library, or café) before going to someone's home.
- Bring your phone and keep it accessible.
If you're requesting to join a group
- Read the host's profile and group details carefully before requesting.
- Ask questions in your intro message about meeting location, expected attendance, and group dynamics.
- You don't have to share your home address until you're comfortable.
- For your first meeting with a new host, you can ask if they'd be open to meeting briefly somewhere public first — a coffee shop, library, or community center. Many hosts will welcome this. It's a normal way to get comfortable before stepping into someone's home.
- If the meeting location feels unsafe when you arrive, leave. Trust your gut.
If you're hosting a group
- Each join request includes the applicant's intro message and profile. Read these carefully before approving.
- Trust your instincts. You can decline anyone for any reason.
- Take time to review. There's no rush to approve.
- You can remove any member from your group at any time if their behavior becomes a concern.
- Make sure your home is safe and accessible. Be clear about pets, allergies, kids in the home, etc.
At the meeting
- You can leave any time you feel uncomfortable.
- Don't share personal financial information or sensitive details with people you've just met.
- Be mindful of alcohol, prescription information, and personal property.
If something goes wrong
- Contact local authorities if there's an emergency.
- Report problematic users to us at hi@gamesetmahj.com.
- You can stop attending and leave the group at any time.
Remember
- Game Set Mahj doesn't verify or vet users. The fact that someone has an account is not an endorsement.
- All in-person meetings happen at your own risk.
- Hosts are responsible for the safety of their own venues.
